What is a Dwelling Fire Policy?

Dwelling Fire Policy

[dwel-ing / fahyuh r / pol-uh-see]

noun

1.

A Dwelling Fire Policy differs from a standard Homeowner’s Insurance Policy by explicitly listing the hazards covered by the Policy. Dwelling Fire Policies don’t have to only cover damage from fire and smoke, they can also cover damage from things like wind, explosions, or vandalism, if those causes are specifically written into the Policy. These policies are useful for a dwelling that will not be inhabited by the owner, such as a landlord insuring a rental property.
